I've blogged regularly before (I was a mommy blogger), but I'm completely out of practice, so bear with me for a bit while I get my "sea legs".
I have a lot of hobbies, all of which I enjoy, but my most recent hobby, needle felting has touched a special place in my cold, cold heart. I love sculpting fibers into something recognizable. Everything I know was something I learned off of YouTube or from the local yarn and fiber shop that I've fallen in love with. There is a lot of trial and error, but that helps me become more comfortable with the medium.
For instance: I now know that Merino wool is like silk compared to Romney, but that both types of wool serve their purpose. I know that Alpaca is much more difficult to work with than either of those types of wool, but it is oh-so-soft. Also: craft store wool roving has nothing on anything I've mentioned thus far. Oh, and I have no desire to card my own wool (bear with me with these terms, as I'm still figuring them out myself). For some reason I thought purchasing raw wool would be fun and exciting, but every time I open the container and look at it I close it up thinking "meh, maybe tomorrow". I could probably wash it, but how would I card it to make it usable? Do I even need to card it? Are carders really that expensive? A carder might be useful for mixing colors, right? Are carders REALLY that expensive?!
So there you have it.
And here's a pumpkin for good measure.
